And with a turn of the clock

I awoke this morning at 7am according to the clock on the cable box.  It was still 6 am on the clock next to my bed since I did not change the time before bed.  I would not typically get up so early on a Sunday but Megan lost another tooth yesterday so she came springing into my room cheerfully to announce that the tooth fairy paid her a visit.  I was not thrilled to see such and early hour at the time.

Sitting here more that 12 hours later and still seeing some daylight outside makes it all worth it.  Signs that spring really is right around the corner.  After diner Meg and I decided to welcome the extra light (and the warmer weather we had today) with a nice bike ride.

oz10Earlier in the day we went to see Oz the Great and Powerful at the movies.  The girls loved it.  I thought is was good, a little long. Madison just loved the flying Monkey!

Last night I had my first Red box experience. The girls and I rented the lastest diary of a Wimpy Kid movie.  Megan has read all of the books.  The movie was actually very entertaining.  We run so much during the week with soccer practice, karate, CCD, long hours for Frank at work etc, it is nice to sometimes kick back and have movie weekend with the family!  By the way, I just love Red box!  I do not know why I have waited so long to try it, if it would only get the last Twilight movie back in stock I would love it! 🙂redbox_grid_6_wide

Unfocused anger

The other day I had an angry visitor to my site who took offense to my post Go sell your Drama somewhere else. This person felt I was being mean and “attacking someone on a blog that was supposed to be about breast cancer”.  What is interesting about that is the post in question is written about me and how I have changed how I respond to negative influences on my life.  Second, at no time have I stated that this is about “breast cancer.” My header gives a brief description,

“What would you do if presented with a 50-50 chance of developing breast cancer? That is exactly what happened to me. This is my journey to peace of mind.”

“About this page”  goes more in-depth about the beginnings of this blog.  Over time I discussed my preparation for a bilateral prophylactic mastectomy, the surgery itself, the impact it had on my family and myself and the decisions I have made and the effect those decisions had on my family and myself.  As I began to get back to normal after my surgery, I discussed how the experience changed me and my intention to continue the blog and focus on my family.

Over time I received the support of many tremendous people, many of those women who either were strong survivors of cancer or like me able to make preemptive decisions to prevent cancer.

This blog has been a sounding board, a type of therapy to clear my head.  A place to meet others and share ideas.  If that offends someone well, for lack of a better thought, tough!  In this great land of the free, you have the right not to read my scribblings.

To that visitor, I hope you find some peace from what ever it is that angers you so that you feel you must lash out at things that you do not seem to understand and that honestly are unimportant in the greater scope of what seems to weigh on you to cause such anger.

Thank you to my friends, family and those who have offered support along the way!

A money saver

I took this while in line with Megan for Rock ‘n Roller Coaster

Before we get too far away from the Disney trip, there are two things I learned  that I thought I would share.44805470006

First is the photo pass plus.  Thanks to a friend (thanks Vince!) I learned about this before our trip and took full advantage.  For $169.95 you can preorder the pass which will allow you to order a photo disc of all pictures taken inside the parks.  It also includes any photos taken while riding  Space Mountain; Splash Mountain; Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin; The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror; Rock ‘n Roller Coaster; Expedition Everest; and Dinosaur (you know those that they snap as you are about to drop from a loop or twist wildly. The one’s that they charge an arm and a leg for at the end of the ride).  If you have plans to attend character meals many of those pictures are included also, (1900 Park Fare; ‘Ohana (breakfast); Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show; Chef Mickey’s; Cinderella’s Royal Table; Tusker House (breakfast); Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue; and Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus) Royal Banquet).44805470015

What I found interesting is the several conversations I had with different photographers at the parks who say that it has been in place for a year yet they are surprised that more people do not take advantage of the deal. I ordered our disc yesterday, it includes 272 pictures.  We have pics from every ride except Splash Mountain since it is closed for maintenance.  We also attended 4 meals and have great family photos to preserve those memories. We never would have bought the ride pictures without this but having them is very cool!  Best deal for the money around!

The other thing I learned is that I could never eat all of the food provided as part of the Deluxe Dinning Plan.  Three, three course meals a day is a ton of food! We tried early on in the week :-).  By mid-week we started canceling meals, we were all full!  Next time around we could definitely down size the meal plan!
