I like to consider myself a somewhat intelligent person. I worry too much about things I can not control. I get very passionate about things I find important. For many weeks I have attempted to totally avoid the news, political, national even local. All it does is get me annoyed, upset or just plain furious.
For as hard as I try, it is everywhere. Some of the headlines I have seen today seem to vindicate at least my attempt to avoid:
-Women’s Unclean Breasts Cause Diarrhoea, Says Egypt Prime Minister Hisham Qandil
-Ahmadinejad: Iran already a nuclear state, but has no intention of launching attack on Israel
-Mexican girl gets pregnant at just eight years old
-Insight: Shrinking U.S. labor unions see relief in marijuana industry
-Carney: Drone Strikes ‘Legal,’ ‘Ethical,’ ‘Wise’
-Library Gives Free Pole Dancing Lessons To Help Boost Attendance
Each of these headlines at the same time scare the hell out of me, make me scratch my head and give me a bit of a chuckle. All sum up the world right now, a real mess.
What does the future hold for my children? Is there anyway to keep them safe in this crazy world?
Our magical trip to Disney can not come soon enough! Just 16 days away for the most important headline to be written, “The Bailey family begin a magical journey!” Boy can we use it!
I received a call from the doctor this morning with the results of the endometrial biopsy. There is no cancer! They were not fully normal but for the purposes of my worry level they were fantastic! What has been identified is an endometrial polyp. This little bugger causes its own issues and in a small percentage of the time can turn to something more. For my purposes right now, I will go to Disney with my family knowing that I am healthy! For this, I am extremely thankful!
What happens when I return? I have to think about this. I will have to repeat the pelvic ultrasound in 2-3 months to once again check on the ovarian cysts. It would be nice if they would go away already! I will deal with that when needed.
As for the polyp, I do have issues that this would cause. They recommend an endometrial ablation procedure to remove it. I am not going into detail about the symptoms of or the procedure to get rid of the polyp. If you are interested click one of the colored links.
For now I can focus on something really important, the quickly approaching Disney trip! We received our packet from the Disney Express. This is the first time we are staying at a Disney resort so it is the first time having to arrange for a pick up. I am so far very impressed with the organization and professionalism of everyone we have talked to from the initial reservation, to meal planning to now the express representatives. There are so many companies who have such poor service, it is refreshing to deal with one who really gets it!
With the end of the year approaching, everywhere you turn you see recaps. I did a medical recap not too long ago and quit honestly am not too interested in reliving this year. Instead I am looking fully forward to what I hope will be a better year.
Making a statement like that always makes me pause for a second because of how close I was to cancer (according to the pathology reports). I had the bilateral prophylactic mastectomy to prevent cancer since I was high risk but until we received those results showing cancer markers, well we had no clue just how close I was. So, with that said the end results made 2012 a good year I suppose and I guess I should recognize that good.
The hope for 2013, well they are filled with no surgery, no medical scares and good times with my family. I do need to get through the follow-up Ultrasound next week to check on the complex cyst. Hopefully that shows that it took care of itself and onward we will move.
One super bright spot that we have all been looking forward to for some time is our trip to Disney World! We are in the home stretch and can begin an official countdown in the next week or so. My girls do love official countdowns :-). We are all really looking forward to this trip! We are staying at The Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani, right over the Savannah. How thrilled with the girls be seeing the animals come close to the balcony.
Since we are staying in Disney we also did the meal package. It is nice going and knowing that almost everything is prepaid. We will be dinning with the Princesses, Mickey and crew, Chip and Dale and at the new Be Our Guest Restaurant. Planning this trip, making the dinning reservations were a nice distraction while I was recovering from surgery. Finally coming close to the actual experience knowing how much we are all looking forward to it, well what can I say that Disney does not? It is the happiest place on earth!
