White-daisy-blue-sky-bright-colors-20523941-1280-1024Yesterday morning started like many others in our house, wake the girl, get them ready for school and out the door to the bus stop.  With the nice weather and bright blue sky the kids were all hyper running around until he bus arrived.  As the bus pulls up the kids grab their bags, get the morning hugs and kiss and off they go.

Madison and I began to walk back to our house when she looks at me and says ever so innocently, “let’s skip”.  What a fun idea, the sky was blue, air warm and my beautiful baby wants to skip home.

Kind of how I felt straining a calf muscle skipping.
Kind of how I felt straining a calf muscle skipping.

I made it the length of about a house when a pain shot through my left calf.  I let out a small “ouch” and stopped.  It was then that my six-year-old looked at me with those caring, loving eyes and laughed.

Nasty kid! 🙂

In my head I can visualize myself doing many things.  And then reality sets in.  Getting old is a real B…….., well let’s just say I am not enjoying it very much!

It’s the final countdown!

I got to once again spend the day with Madison’s Kindergarten class on Thursday for the Valentine’s ice creme party.  We helped the kids each pass out their cards, played a rousing game of musical hearts and then they were sugared up on ice creme sundaes.  What more could you possibly want at 6 years old?sugar-dumb

Today the girls were off from school so we began to complete the final checklist for our trip.  We went to the salon where they both got haircuts.  Then we went to the mall for some clothes for Madison.  Of course while we were there we could not pass up the opportunity to enjoy some jumbo pizza slices at the food court.

The weather is calling for some possible snow over night tonight but by the time we got home from the mall it was in the mid 50’s and sunny.  The girls finally had an opportunity to try out the roller skates they received at Christmas. It was a nice day with my girls!

An open agenda, snow and hot chocolate; who could ask for more?

For the first time in months, the only thing on the agenda for this weekend is 30 minutes worth of music lessons Saturday morning. Both of the girls have their lessons at the same time.   Other than that, no soccer games, no birthday parties, Frank is not traveling for work, nothing on the calendar that we HAVE to do.  This will be one of the only weekends like this since Spring soccer games will start early March.  This is a rare treat.  What will we do????IMG_3448

For tonight that answer is admire the snow.  We did not get any measurable snow last year.  Late this afternoon a small storm started which is due to bring about 2 inches.  Not much at all but for two little girls who have been waiting since last year to wear the snow boots we bought it is a dream come true.IMG_3454  Thankfully I bought those boots a size big for each of them! With only about a 1/2 inch on the ground both were dressed and out the door to play in the snow.  I hope it does keep going for a little while so there will be a little something more to play in tomorrow.IMG_3447

Now we are sitting enjoying some hot chocolate and a movie.  Sometimes it really is the little things that mean so much!IMG_3456
