So I am not sure why I should be surprised but I received a call with the results from the pelvic ultrasound. It started with, “Nothing to be concerned about” so I knew a BUT was coming and it did. It seems they have found a complex cyst on my left ovary. She explained that most of the time they go away on their own so we will repeat the ultrasound in 2 months.
For a few minutes I was upset even a bit nervous. I scanned the internet for a few minutes and then decided to just stop! I will repeat in 2 months and at that time deal with whatever we need to deal with. I am 41, finished having children at this point have shown I am not opposed to removing body parts.
I continue to remind myself that it could always be worse!
Ovarian cysts are very common in woman of all ages and they go away on their own in most cases just like your doctor mentioned to you. Believe me I had one two years ago, it went away all on its own. All the best…
Thank you!
You will be fine. I have had more cysts than I could count among other gyn problems and I only had to have one drained. More than likely it will be gone by the next one. Thinking of you!
I am not worried at this point. The concern would be that I was never tested for the BRCA mutation and since cancer markers were found during the pathology of the mastectomy blah blah blah. I have the colonoscopy today and surgery in two weeks so this little cyst has to take a back seat for now. 🙂
I have a cyst too….now granted, Cowden’s Syndrome doesn’t afford me the blessing of biological children so I’m looking at 2 major surgeries pretty darn quick….but the question for me is WHICH ONE and WHEN?
PS, How was the prep for the colonoscopy? Did you enjoy your Gatorade? 🙂
PPS, my comment makes no sense…URG. I just read it…but as others have said….yes, ovarian cysts aren’t a big whoop.
If/when you do the hysterectomy – you’ll have your ovaries remain or stay?
I am not looking at any surgery now. Based on the “complex” part of the cyst was the only part of the concern. They can go away and they can also become tumors so right now we are just repeating the ultrasound with the hope that is goes on its own.
As for the colonoscopy, I had the moviprep which is mixed with water. It was not that bad…I had a pounding headache by the time I got there today probably from dehydration. Not eating does basically suck! All went well though!
