Motherhood

The worst thing about just sitting around with nothing but time are the thoughts that just continue to swirl through my head.  I have mentioned my mother several times in this blog. Although I loved her very much, I have tried to be a very different mother to my children than she was to us. She was a single parent from the time that I was a baby. I know it was not easy for her.

Growing up I don’t really ever remember hearing  the words “I love you”.  I know that she loved me  and I loved her.  But it is nice to hear the words right?  I remember when Megan was born.  I was so thrilled.  See I was a career girl and was never going to have children, that is until I had Megan and resigned from my career :-).  I could not have loved her anymore.  I just loved to hold her, hug her and kiss her.  I used to just sit and kiss her head…even told her tiny little body that there would be a million kisses up there by the time she was one. I also made her a promise that a day would not pass when I would not tell her how much I loved her!  The same held true when Madison was born and as they have both gotten a little older I encourage them to talk to us and ask questions.  This is often very interesting as other also find.  Out of the blue whatever is on Madison’s mind comes out…sometimes a little awkward but the only way to learn.

By no means am I a push over quit the countrary I am actually very strict. But  I do not want my girls to be afraid of anything and I do not want them to ever feel that they missed out!

Check

Today was a busy day!  The girls had karate followed by lunch out, errand shopping dinner at the mall and some more shopping.  I continue to try to make things easy for the family.  We have paper towels and toilet paper stacked to the ceiling, enough tissues to last through next allergy season , ketchup (a major staple in my household) to supply a small diner, enough dog food for an entire kennel and if one was so inclined the floors are clean enough to eat off of.

I exaggerate of course.  I don’t know if it is a way of me passing the time.  Maybe I have no fear/worry about the actual surgery because I have a god complex that they can’t survive without me. I don’t give myself time to worry since I have to get things ready for them. Who knows and quite honestly who cares.  It works for all involved.  I want Frank to be able to focus on the girls, it keeps me busy and I am sure things have been taken care of properly.

I just finished the “lists”.  Phone numbers of friends and another for medication.  Both girls have allergy and or sinus issues.  I am a stay at home mom…these things are in my head and handled by me daily as routine  habit. Sitting trying to put it in nice little checklists it not easy lol!

Tomorrow marks 5 days til surgery!

Not long now

Less than 2 weeks now.  First I need to start off with a big Happy Birthday to my husband!  I hope you enjoyed your round of golf today!

So the 5-year-old mind continues to swirl for Madison.  We can be doing just about anything when she will blurt out another interesting question such as:

  • “so mommy, if you do not have this surgery would you become one of the bald people?”
  • “mommy, how are they going to make your boobies and belly smaller, squish them down really hard?”

She has also taken the opportunity to tell random people that I will be going into the hospital.  But she does seem to be handling it alright.

We have a list of crafts and things that they wanted to do this summer so we went shopping yesterday to buy many supplies.  We made our first iron on t-shirts last night.  We will attempt tie-dye later this week.  The puppets and puppet stage are in process.  My kitchen looks like a Kindergarten art room gone terribly wrong.

Other than that things are relatively calm 13 days out from surgery.  The insurance company actually called to see if I needed anything today…found that interesting.  We have the guest room cleaned out probably for the first time in years.  My sister-in-law will be staying the night before the surgery so the girls do not have to be pulled from best a 4 am to take me to the hospital.

Not too much longer now!
